This past year continues to be difficult for Myanmar but after two years of delay due to COVID and other circumstances, we are pleased to inform you that in the past financial year, we were able to make the donations to the winners of the U Nay Win Sunshine Memorial Fund for the years 2020 and 2021. The beautiful ceremony took place at Mahar Thukhita Yama monastery in Than Hlin Myo on Wednesday 30th March 2022 at 11 AM. In 2019 the donation journey took the BEST delegation through rough roads wild rivers and mountainous climbs to reach the needy schools in the Chin State ' one of the more remote ' the poorest and least developed state in Myanmar. For 2020 and 2021, we chose 18 needy schools in the Mawgyun area (Irrawaddy division). Buddhist Essential Support Trust ( BEST ) founder/ the late U Nay Win always wanted to help the most needy even if it meant making difficult journeys to remote places in the country. We are proud to continue his legacy through these donations.

Dear friends This past year has been an extremely difficult year for the world with the COVID pandemic and particularly difficult for Myanmar since the coup of February 2021. The in-person donations we normally do in December/January had to be postponed due to COVID restrictions and with the banking crisis following the coup, it became almost impossible to get the funds to Myanmar. The U Nay Win Sunshine Memorial Fund donations have unfortunately been delayed, as with essential donations to parahita schools and other donations in Myanmar. We are determined to make up for this when the situation improves. In spite of all these challenges, we did manage to continue our donations here in the UK, and also make a few donations in Myanmar including to Abidhamma Yatnar Covid-19 Medical Centre in Bahan for Daw Tin Ohn Myint in November 2020 and working through Sayadaw U Gandhamala, we were able to donate to the Mingun water project and much needed oxygen supplies to help COVID patients in Myanmar. We also succeeded to send funds to start the essential monastery and meditation caves repair work on Taungtha mountain with the help of BEST trustee U Aung Kyaw Johnson Moe. To mark the 19th Anniversary of BEST, we were able to make a special HTI donation for the Ghandhara Pagoda in Sagaing earlier in the year and I would like to thank Dr. Ko Ko, Daw Molly Ko and U Thura Ko for their help in this unique opportunity for a HTI donation. We say farewell and pray for much loved Daw Amy Khaing and Daw Tin Tin San (Rose) who always helped and attended BEST annual gatherings as well as other friends and family who have departed us. We also pray for peace and wellbeing of everyone in our beautiful country and beyond. Thank you all for your continued support and resilience in a difficult year. Stay strong and loving kindness to you all. Daw Khin Win Mya Working with Tipitaka Sayadaw U Gandhamala, donating much needed oxygen for COVID patients
Dear Friends Once again, for the financial year 2019-2020, I am very pleased to inform you that the BEST donations in Myanmar reached yet another milestone with a new record of 41.15 million kyats or £22,641. For a small charity, this really is excellent news. For the 2019 U Nay Win Sunshine Memorial Fund, we chose 8 of the 9 winners from and around the Chin State one of the remotest parts of the country. Please find here a short video of the donations in Myanmar. Thank you all for your support and generosity. Thadu. Thadu. Thadu. Daw Khin Win Mya - BEST President 5/19/2020 0 Comments Farewell dear friends...We are sad to announce the passing away of Daw Ohmar Thein lovingly known as Cherry in September 2019 and in February 2020 we had to say good bye to Daw Kyi Kyi Hlaing, lovingly known as Hazel. In April 2020 COVID 19, took away Dr. Myint Wynn and U Soe Win Tin. In the following month of May, we also have had to say good bye to Mr. Alan Stanley for the same reason . They were all friends and supporters of BEST as well as respected members of the Burmese community. They were loving, kind and generous people doing their best for family, friends and the community. We honour you and we pray for you. Although you are no longer physically with us in this life, you will remain in our hearts, our minds and our prayers. Rest in peace dear friends.

On 12 December 2019, the children and the elderly in Mindat received a big delivery of warm clothes and blankets to provide winter warmth in the cold Chin state. The delivery was organised by BEST Myanmar and what a joy to see the smiles on their faces! Thadu. Thadu. Thadu. The BEST delegation ventured through rough roads, wild rivers and mountainous climbs to reach the needy schools in the Chin state, one of the more remote, the poorest and least developed state in Myanmar. The friendly Chin people, some dressed in their traditional costumes, welcomed the delegation for reaching out to them. Six of the nine U Nay Win Sunshine Memorial Fund winners are selected from the Chin state. In the words of U Nay Win "Where there is already plenty of water there is no need for rain but in areas where water is scarce let the rain of metta (loving-kindness and generosity) pour down."
